About the Song

The Rockstar movie had one of the most amazing musical scores in the Hindi film industry. It was the cornerstone of Indian cinema. From then on, directors started taking background scores seriously in movies and started using them to signify changes in emotions. The lead actors in the movie were Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri. Every lyric that you hear in the soundtrack comes from the creativity of Irshad Kamil. The music director for the film was none other than A.R. Rahman himself is one of the few Indian artists who have won an Oscar for their work.

Rockstar was jointly produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd and Eros International. In total, there were 14 tracks present in the film; the entire album was released on September 30 2011, under the label of T-Series. More than half songs were on repeat by radio stations; everyone was talking about the music and how it excites people about the upcoming movie. Fans were pretty hysterical about the songs, and they even started digging out deeper meanings for the lyrics and the music that was present in the movie.

The entire album of the Rockstar was able to top iTunes world charts in 2011 and songs kept up their positive performance even in 2012. The Indian Express has termed the film’s album as A Milestone in Bollywood.

Imtiaz Ali broke his ties with Pritam and went with A.R Rahman; Rahman asked Mohit Chauhan to lend his voice for nine songs that are part of the music album. Mohit actually played the voice of the lead actor, while Ranbir Kapoor played the part of Jordan. According to the music director, Rockstar is a character-driven film, and from the title of the movie, one can easily guess the influence of the guitar in the movie.
