Bobby Koelble
21 years experience in Rock, Metal, Jazz, Classical
First the earth cooled. Then the dinosaurs came and went. America was discovered, the stock market crashed, prohibition ended, fundamentalists killed our great leaders and sometime after that, Bobby was born. One day his dad went to the mall to buy a stereo but got him an organ instead and his music learning began. He wanted to learn Bach but his teacher kept teaching him Show Tunes. He quit the instrument on realizing it was not present in the works of Black Sabbath. He began to commandeer his sister's guitar at every opportunity and guitar lessons ensued. Metal became a passion. Off he went to Berkley to try to be like Al Di Meola but ended up a bit more like Wes Montgomery. Miles and Coltrane became a passion.
After graduation, he was given the enormous honor of playing alongside Chuck Schuldiner and Gene Hoglan in Death (featured on the Roadrunner release, Symbolic), possibly resulting in Charlie Parker licks being played in death metal tunes for the first time. Songwriting became a passion. He went on to form Junkie Rush and The Absinthe Trio, which performs in Orlando every Wednesday and continued working as a freelance live/session guitarist.
Booby has accompanied some of the giants of Jazz including Sam Rivers, Danny Gottlieb, Chris Potter, Larry Coryell and Lou Donaldson and has the honor of teaching Jazz guitar at Rollins College and the University of Central Florida. He has also given private lessons to hundreds of guitar students over the years, still teaches rock n roll band camps every summer and is dedicated to helping up-and-coming musicians. He enjoys reggae, as evident in his frequent collaborations with The Supervillains and The Goods. He has what could be described as musical A.D.D!!!
