Rock You Like a Hurricane was released as a lead single for their ninth studio album called, Love at First String, which was released in 1984. The song was written by Klaus Meine, Herman Rarebell, and Rudolf Schenker and the production of the song was handled by Dieter Dierks.

The band did the re-recording of the song in 2000 with Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra backing the track, they changed the name of the song to Hurricane 2000. Then again, Scorpions did the re-recording of the song in 2001 and named it Hurricane 2001 when it was played on the follow-up Acoustica.
Rock You Like a Hurricane was used in a number of places; it was first used by Carolina Hurricanes as an intro for their team, and Stormy Plants also used the song when they were entering PNC Arena in 2006. VH1 music channel also ranked this song at 31st from the list of 40 Greatest Metal Songs of All Time. Then again, in 2009, VH1 gave it the 18th spot in the Greatest Hard Rock Song of All Time.
